Welcome to my corner of the internet. I acquired my first Pekins back in 1993 and have kept them ever since. I began with a trio of lavender Pekins which are a lovely, if somewhat feminine, colour. The next colours I moved on to were the more masculine blacks and mottleds. Since then I've kept most of the standard colours but in recent years have settled on my favorites - which are the blacks, cuckoos and columbians. I also breed a few other colours of Pekin including blue, mottled and white which I am slowly working on. Many of these colours can be used in harmony in the breeding pen if needed - which is handy!
I also keep Frizzle Bantams. I had these many years ago and got rid of them to concentrate on my Pekins. In 2006 I was able to purchase some more and have been enjoying keeping them ever since. In 2008 I was lucky enough to win Best In Show at the National Poultry Show with a white frizzle pullet I had bred earlier that year. Although I don't hatch many Frizzles I find the chicks fascinating to watch grow as they develop their "frizzling". They also lay very well and make good mothers.
